Make Up Sponges and How to Clean it

Assalamualaikum girls. ^_^

Good morning. ^_^ So how's the makeup tutorial? Do you like it? ^_^ The pictures are definitely my best. Dulu masa buat makeup blog, the lighting and the camera were soooo bad sampai I pun takde mood dah nak buat tutorial. Huhu. Tapi Alhamdulillah...gambar-gambar kali ni buat I puas hati. Oh ye...pictures yang I post semalam tu tak mengalami sebarang editing di bahagian muka dan seluruhnya...I cuma letak watermark kat each picture guna Paint. T_T So...what you got dalam post semalam was purely me without editing. Haha.

Okay...hari ni I nak cerita how to clean your makeup sponges. Sebab ada jugak few of you girls yang tanya how to clean and take care of makeup sponges. Actually, lifespan makeup sponges ni tak lama. One of the reasons, sponges ni memang tempat pembiakan bakteria yang baik if kita tak jaga dengan elok. Second one....the sponges itself yang boleh koyak (if pakai dengan lama) dan kerap cuci. Jadi for me...it's not a worth the investment. 

Sebab tu I invest on something yang I boleh pakai lama....which is makeup brushes. But makeup sponges are really usefull for makeup artists. Where they can use different sponges for different clients. Kira pakai and buang la tu. 

Tapi since ramai yang ada makeup sponges...let me share with you...how to clean your makeup sponges. ^_^

Makeup sponge

Ini adalah sponge yang I akan guna....my compact foundation sponge. This is before washing ye. ^_^

Run it under lukewarm water

First step you girls kena basahkan sponge tu dengan lukewarm water.

Pour some conditioning shampoo

Then tuangkan conditioning shampoo sikit kat atas sponge tu.

Rub it well

Then rub it. As you girls rub the sponge...you girls boleh nampak buih-buih tu jadi brownish color. :D

Repeat until the foam become white

Then....rinse and repeat the same process sampai la buih yang terhasil jadi warna putih. Macam kat gambar kat atas. ^_^

Rinse it well with lukewarm water

Bila dah puas hati....baru rince well dengan lukewarm water and squeeze well. Dan seperti biasa keringkan atas paper towel. As you girls can see from picture below...paper towel tu takde kesan coklat-coklat pun bila I pressed the sponge kat tissue tu. It suggested that the sponge dah bersih.

Lay it flat on paper towel

Since sponges characteristic dia menyerap, you wont get the nice white sponges bila dah basuh. But at least we know that we killed the bacteria by basuh guna sabun. Betul tak?

Some people lepas basuh guna sabun, they panaskan pulak the sponges guna microwave oven. And some people guna diluted bleach untuk rendam and killed the germs. Boleh jugak. But I wont be comfortable guna microwave (yang guna untuk panaskan makanan) untuk sponges. And also....I tak comfortable nak guna bleach kat sponges (which later on guna kat muka) even if it is diluted. Hiiiii. Jadi best option? Guna brushes aje. hihihihi XD
